How Stafford Players Works

Annual General Meeting
This takes place at the end of each season in June. Its major business is to elect the Committee for the following season.

The Committee

The Annual General Meeting elects the Committee for the next season, which consists of the following posts:Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Officer, Social Secretary, Members and Patrons Secretary, Play Selection Chairman, and three other members. The structure is flexible, and can change in response to changing needs.
The Committee hard at work!

 Play selection Committee
The AGM also elects the Play Selection Committee: this has a Chairman and 4 members, who during the year select directors and plays for the next season, subject to the approval of the main committee.

Post-production meetings
The Monday after each production, a Post-Production meeting is held - open to all members whether concerned in the play or not - to summarise how all aspects of  the show have gone, and highlight any difficulties which might need to be addressed. This is also the opportunity for any other administrative business, like the election of committee members to fill any vacancies etc.

Communication
Members of the group are kept in touch through regular emails. Members without IT access are kept up to date with a systemised arrangement of phone calls.

Membership and Subscriptions
There are two levels of membership - full membership  or patron membership.
Subscriptions are payable at the time of the AGM for the next season.
Full membership is currently £22 (student rate £11).
To become a patron, we ask for a minimum fee, which is currently £5, but any further donation would not be refused! Patrons are kept in touch with all our production news, receive a copy of all Newletters, and vouchers for a free programme for each production . All patrons are of course warmly welcome at all our social events.

Productions and Venues

We aim to stage three plays each year in November, February and May. Our production venue is The Gatehouse in Eastgate Street, Stafford; we usually perform in the Malcolm Edwards Theatre (the MET) - the smaller studio theatre -  and in the main Gatehouse Theatre once every two years

The Constitution
Stafford Players has survived so successfully as a group over so many years partly due to the stability and continuity given by a written Constitution and the Committee system which runs it.
The Constitution sets out in detail the minutiae of how the Society operates, and a copy of this is given to all members.
